Curves Adjustments

The Curves Adjustment Layer is a powerful to create effects in your Photo. Originally I made the Effects in this article with multiple Adjustments Layers stacked on top of each other. But the Curves is just One Layer, replacing 4 layers.

The Curves: 

 

The RGB-Curve (White Line): 

What this Curve does is, in this case: 

• The Darks and Shadows: the darks become lighter, so the photo becomes more flat. By adding two more points in the shadows we give some contrast back. Now we have a darker, flatter photo.
• The Highlight and Whites: the node for the Highlights makes the photo lighter on the highlights. Now we make the Whites less bright.

Now we have a more extreme S-Curve.

The Red-Curve:

• Add some Red to the Blacks and Highlights.
• Add some Green to the Whites.

The Green-Curve:

• Add some Green to the Blacks and Shadows.

The Blue-Curve:

• Add some Yellow to the Highlights.

The Complete the Effect from the Photo I added a Photo Filter: Sepia, 50%.
